Floral Bloom: an embroidered tracksuit chapter in heavyweight cotton

Floral Bloom is Phrase Studios' fourth chapter. It opened in 2025 and is the studio's most worked piece to date: a tonal floral tracksuit, embroidered rather than printed, released in black and in off-white. The chapter is about growth that does not announce itself. Flowers the same colour as the cloth they sit on.

From the studio. “We wanted bloom without colour. A flower that you only see when the light moves across it. Tonal embroidery was the only way to do it. Print would have shouted. The chapter is quiet on purpose.”

Tonal embroidery, not print

The florals are embroidered in thread the same tone as the base cloth. Black flowers on black, off-white on off-white. Embroidery sits raised on the surface and catches light differently from the flat ground around it, so the pattern reads as texture before it reads as a motif. The studio chose it over print because a print sits on top of cloth and an embroidery becomes part of it.

“The embroidery run took the longest of any chapter. Every flower is stitched, not pressed. That is why the set sits at the top of what we make. It is the most hours in any single Phrase piece.”

The set: top and bottom

Floral Bloom is a matching tracksuit: a zip or crew top and a matching jogger, cut to be worn together or split across other chapters. The Floral Bloom set in black and the off-white Shadow Bloom are both active. Sizing is XS to XL, unisex, on a relaxed fit. The two pieces are sold so a wearer can size top and bottom independently.

How to wear a tonal set

A tonal set is the easiest statement piece to wear because the statement is in the texture, not the colour. It reads as a clean monochrome fit at a distance and reveals the embroidery up close. For a full breakdown, the journal piece how to wear a matching set covers splitting the set, layering over it, and footwear. For sizing against peer-brand tracksuits, see the sizing comparison page.

The most complete chapter

Floral Bloom is where the studio's chapters became fully realised: a single idea, carried by the most demanding construction Phrase had attempted, in a tightly held colour pair. The chapter that follows it, Horizon, steps back to a lighter, simpler register on purpose, the way a record sequences a heavy track before a quiet one.

For the full chapter list, year by year, the press kit is the canonical record. Active items are linked above; closed pieces have moved into The Vault.
